Thanks from the Hotel Development Team

ffbThere has been a whirlwind of activity and an overwhelming show of public support for the Hotel project.  Two petitions to the Fairfield Bay Planning and Zoning Commission were unanimously endorsed and sent to the City Council.  And both times the City Council unanimously voted to support the project by approving the amendment to the Land Use Plan and then to rezone the construction site for commercial use.  There was a great show of public support at both Public Hearings.  The Planning and Zoning Commissioners and the City Council members all demonstrated confidence with their votes.  Thanks from the Hotel Development Team.

And the membership vote further documented enthusiasm for the project when a large majority of the votes were cast in favor of permitting the Community club Board of Directors to build, own, and operate a resort hotel in the Bay.  Again, thanks from the Hotel Development Team and the board of Directors.

These events set the stage to begin serious financial, franchise, and construction planning and that will begin in earnest before the end of the year.

The Team and the Board of Directors recognize this project to be a serious and somewhat gutsy move by the organization.  As part of the process the Club will take on a serious debt load and will mortgage the Indian Hills amenities to support construction of the hotel.  And, while we know and have communicated the down side potential of a business failure, we still think the risk of failure is minimal and acceptable and we are in a far better position to accept the risk that a private investor could ever be.  In short, if we really think a hotel is necessary to reinvigorate the resort and community, an aggressive move is necessary.  The Board and the Team take this responsibility very seriously and will give this venture our best efforts.

And now you can help again.  We need you to see the ‘glass as half full’, be positive, and communicate enthusiasm and optimism to each other and to visitors to the Bay.  Please try to envision the Bay several years from now when we will see a growing and profitable business climate return, people interested in retirement opportunities here, a growing list of amenities that add to membership value, and real estate people that actually smile occasionally!  I just hope I can still find a seat at Goodwin’s in the morning!

Again thanks for your support and demonstration of confidence.  The Team and Board will make every effort to ensure your trust was well placed.
